Die Welt nun

Inside the room, there is a smaller room, and within that, an even smaller one. You can peer or walk through the walls, or follow the nearly labyrinthine path. Photos are hung on paper strips that form the walls, creating a space with no clear inside or outside, yet inviting closer inspection. This is ‘The World Now.’ Photos taken by Elena Hofmeister during her year-long stay in China are displayed at Galerie Au in Munich, where Katharina Stumm skillfully brings together different worlds with sensitivity.

The world now. Photos taken by Elena Hofmeister during her one-year stay in China hang in the Galerie Au in Munich. Different worlds that Katharina Stumm brings together sensitively.

In the upper room of the gallery, the fusion of worlds, with an emphasis on the location, autumnal Munich, is somewhat brutal. With alluvial wood and abstracted photos, a morbid aftertaste now follows the world. This sensation is emphasized by the video that is projected onto a curtain made of paper strips in a continuous loop.
